Music and Movement: Does it helps in student's learning?

Music and movement is the way where we can express ourselves. It makes our day enjoyable and makes our personality whole. Some of us like music because it can make them relax while the others were doesn't because they don't being "emo" or like the feeling of being emotional. Others like dancing because for them, it's the best way where they can express what they feel while others don't like because they were not good in dancing.

But when it comes into teaching strategies, music and movement can be use. There are some reasons why music and movement is useful.

1. It can help the students in remembering everything.
Like when it comes to alphabet letters that have its alphabet song. You can give some actions at the beginning of the song before proceeding to the alphabet letters. Here is the example:
Up to the ceiling, down to the floor
Left to the window, right to the door
Mama kisses me, Papa hugs me
For I know my ABC`s

A B C D E F G
H I J K L M N O P
Q R S T U V
W X Y Z

Now I know my ABC`s
Next time you will sing with me.

2. It can help the students in identifying everything.
Like when it comes to parts of the body that have its body parts song. You can give some actions as you are pointing the parts of the body being asked in the song. Here is the example:
Head, shoulders, knees and toes,
Knees and toes.
Head, shoulders, knees and toes,
Knees and toes.
And eyes, and ears, and mouth,
And nose.
Head, shoulders, knees and toes,
Knees and toes.

3. It makes the whole class enjoy the day.
Children, by nature, like to sing and dance. For them, it makes their day complete. Before they go to school, they feel the excitement because they know that before the class begin, they will sing and dance. Here is the example:

I have five senses say them with me
Five senses here we go
Say 5, Hi-5
(5, Hi-5)
I have five senses say them with me
Five senses here we go
Say 5, Hi-5
(5, Hi-5)
1 to see, 2 to hear
3 to taste, 4 to feel
5 to smell, we're doing well
