My School, My Home

          School is our second home and teacher is our second mother. It influence one`s behavior, positively and negatively. Let me tell you something about the school that I have.

          I`m a second year student, taking up Education at University of Batangas and I may say that this school is the place where you should be. Actually, it has been awarded by PACUCOA as having the 3rd most number of accredited programs in the country. Another is that the University of Batangas is recognized by CHED as a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education and as a Center of Development in Business Administration. It has also been recognized by PRC as a consistent top performer in engineering education nationwide.

          I am proud to say that I am a Brahman and also, an Education student which is the Center of Excellence. That is the University of Batangas, Undeniably the Best!

          Leni dream to be a successful teacher someday ever since when she was a child. After graduating elementary in a public school, she chose to enroll in a private institution. At first, it is hard for her to adapt the environment for she's from a public school. But still, she overcomes it. One night, as she read her Bible, she realizes to be a working student as she has her evening class. By this, she can help her parents in paying their debts. And as she pray, God revealed to her that as a child of God, she can do all things through Christ who strengthens her. After that night, God provided a part time job for Leni, as a baby sitter of the two children. Knowing that it's not hard to earn money, she thinks to stop and focus on her studies but her mother motivates her. Leni feel the hardships, being like a mother, sister or even teacher of the two children. There are times that the elder child hurt her, not only in physically but emotionally. This was the time that she feels to stop but there's something within her that God is revealing. if she will stop, the children wouldn't learn their lesson in life. She thinks that there's a purpose why God gave her this kind of circumstance. so she pursue to be a working student and she don't believe that as she was in her 3rd year level in high school, she have got the 1st rank and by that, she do believe that everything happens for a reason. Until she graduated high school, she became a consistent honor student that causes her to be an academic achiever and most responsible student in their class.

          She’s now studying college at the same university also but now, she chose to be in a morning session. Yes, it's hard for her to adapt that daily routine that causes her to be late in her first subject always. so her professor ask her why is that happen that she's always late when her house is only near at the said university. she answered honestly, "I woke up late because I also go to bed late for it's what I've grown up to for I am a 5 years evening student in this university. So I want to say sorry to you." then she sat down and listen to the professor discussing.

          The time passes by when the Mid-Term Exams come. She’s feeling comfortable that she will get a high grades but with she see her Mid-Term grades, she have got 3 in her 1 major subject. She got disappointed knowing that "she tried her very best" but "she guess her very best wasn't good enough." that's a song. Yeah, you're right and not been left. By the way, back to the story.

          After knowing that, she spends more time to study and also doesn't forget to read her Bible and pray every time. In the end, she makes her grades higher, from 3 to 2.75. At least, God is still good because she still have her scholarship, by the grace of God.

Lesson:       Keep your feet on the ground while flying because in this life, you don't know what will happen next if you wouldn't be humble. Be thankful for God is still good that after you fall, He picks you up and encourage you to go on for He will be still with you, every step of the way.

Does classroom management affects the learning of an individual?

     Classroom is the place in which students go to learn. It is their second house and teacher is their second mom. This is the place where they can explore different things around them while learning. In this place also, they can meet new friends. It’s the best place where the students should be in for them to love learning.

     We can compare the room that a kinder should have to other level. In kinder, it must be colorful, decorative and also fun-filled room while in higher level, some aspects will be change but the fun must still be there. Classrooms should be the place wherein students will feel comfortable, enjoyable and blessed. There are some ways on how you can make a best classroom ever.

1.     Put some decorations outside the door that says what the grade and section is and who is the teacher assign. By this, the guardian and students will know who would take care of their children.

2.     The room must be decorated but not too much for it will catches your learners' attention. Be sure that the room, even though it's fully decorated, still you can catch everyone's attention as you discuss.

3.     It must be fully air-conditioned or if not so, there must be electric fans so that the student will not feel hot that will cause them not to focus on the lesson you are discussing. Feeling of uncomfortable can be a hindrance to someone to learn.

4.     Make the room filled with love. Students, in kindergarten, need the love of everyone that surrounds them. They always like to be seen by their teachers because if not so, they will feel that the teacher doesn't like or love them or haven't enough care for them.

5.     Have a fun-filled classroom. Sometimes, students feel the boredom if they are not interested in the lesson. But when the teacher can catch the attention of the students, not only by the lesson you were discussing but also learning while having fun. Students in this level like to enjoy and by some fun activities inside the classroom, even it's not play time, they will achieve that enjoyment and get satisfied.

How to motivate a learner?

          Motivation is something that drives or forces someone to action. There are positive and negative motivations that the delegated authority uses in order to motivate their learner.

     In teaching, there are some motivations that the teacher can use like:

1.     Putting "star/s mark" or sticker/s at their hand/s if they are participating in different activities.

Music and Movement: Does it helps in student's learning?

Music and movement is the way where we can express ourselves. It makes our day enjoyable and makes our personality whole. Some of us like music because it can make them relax while the others were doesn't because they don't being "emo" or like the feeling of being emotional. Others like dancing because for them, it's the best way where they can express what they feel while others don't like because they were not good in dancing.

But when it comes into teaching strategies, music and movement can be use. There are some reasons why music and movement is useful.

1. It can help the students in remembering everything.

Like when it comes to alphabet letters that have its alphabet song. You can give some actions at the beginning of the song before proceeding to the alphabet letters. Here is the example:

Improving Your Reading Skills

          Reading is important in every one of us. It is part of our daily life wherein we can know some information with the use of symbols or letters that can be seen wherever we are. It becomes part of us that help us to be a better person in the near future. Some said that "kung anong basa, sya'ng sulat" so I think, it's so important that we know how to read because it will be the basis for us to write whatever we want to right according to what is on our mind.

          Kinder Garten is the stage wherein the students' reading skills is being hone. Basic words are the only thing that the students in this level can do for they have only limited knowledge unlike with the students in graders. There are some tips that I want to share in order for you to improve students' reading skills.

As a teacher:

1.     You must provide pictures before the word so that they will have the idea on what's being asked to be read.

"Learners in this stage, by nature, like seeing symbols or pictures for it catch the attention of everyone. Sometimes they don't care on the letters written beside the picture. with the use of this pictures, teachers not only catch the attention of the learners but it can also be the way to motivate them to read in a way that as the teacher points the picture, letters will be pronounce as they recite the name of the picture being presented."

2.     You can have a review about yesterday's discussion.

"Recall them all over again so that it will mark it their mind. Learners in this stage, by nature, are an adventurous one who likes to explore to know different things around them. They should be given the guidance that they should have for them to be motivated. They often ask question that needs the right answer because it will sink in to their mind as they grow. You need to focus on how you can make them love learning while they were exploring the world of Kinder Garten."

3.     You should try to motivate the learner to read on their own house

"It would be easy for them to catch up with the next lesson by this way, if they already review the past and the next lesson. Now, it's the guardian or parent's responsibility to take the chance of teaching their children. It’s not only for educational purposes but also for the bonding that the children and parents will have as they were learning from each other."

Deeply Loved, Highly Favored, Greatly Blessed

Family is a blessing from God. He gave this for us to be guided in our everyday living. They are the one who`s always there to support every dreams that we want to fulfill in the near future. Family is also a visible sovereignty of God. And because of that, we must be an obedient servant for whatever we do for our family is reflecting on God alone.

I thank God for giving me the kind of family that I have right now. We are always arguing and fighting with each other but still, in the end of the day, we`re okay, relax, happy and blessed. We`re not that kind of family who always have hugs and kisses or something sayings telling that “I Love You” every time we leave the house. We still show and share our love through our attitudes and how we treat each and everyone, understand and respect each other`s opinion and side. We have bad and good times but still, we enjoy every moment that God has given. I thank God for giving us an experience that makes us strong, united and loved. And that experience is when our Superwoman, Madear Loves, take the opportunity to go abroad and be a domestic helper. At first, it`s painful but as time passes by, you will realize every efforts that an O.F.W. take just to give a better future for their family who`s always waiting for the right time to come, or the God`s will, for them to be whole, reunited and feel the best feeling of being together forever again. That`s what the magic of love can do in the family, bonded with love, tendered with care.

Be happy and contented for what God has given you. That`s a blessing for He has already know what`s the best for you. Treasure every moments that you`ve spent and shared together and think that everything will work together for good. In the end, give all the glory, honor and praises to God, for He makes you deeply loved, highly favored and greatly blessed.

New Life, New Living

Every year to come is another life to be spent with. It`s the time wherein most of us change for a better and to be one of the good example that our world is needed. There would be also another opportunity to grab, another moments to experience and another blessings to be enjoyed with. All of these things will make us learn something new that enable us to handle things effectively like we ever did before.

Another year is now approaching and we may say that it`s another journey to be take with. New Year`s Day means a lot. It can be a new chapter of our life. In some ways, it could also a new beginning and another blessing may also be associated with it. And it can also be somehow a new loving, new living. Love can also be the essence of it for in this very moment, love binds every people in the whole world.

Celebrating New Year`s Eve is what I`ve grown up to. We go to the market early in the morning to buy some foods need for the celebration. Fruits and different things which are round can never be last at this very moment. And as the hours pass by, we prepare different things so that when the time comes, we are ready to celebrate happily. We put all the sounds and lights on, the radio, the television, vehicle sounds and even put the disco lights outside then suddenly, all of us were singing and dancing while waiting for the countdown. The hours, minutes, seconds and even the milliseconds pass by until the clock says that it`s already 12:00 am, celebration of New Year`s Eve in every house. As what we`ve traditionally do during this very moment, we say the word “Happy New Year” in each and everyone and try to jump as high as we can. As we watch the sky, different fireworks can be seen that make the surroundings smoky. After all of that thing, we go to different houses in our places and keep on eating the foods that they`ve prepared for us. It`s a tiring day that cause us to take a deep breath in the bed, trying to imagine how blessed I am and by the next day, realize that you`ve got a long and relaxing rest, knowing that you have a Christmas and New Year`s party to attend.

All of us feel the essence of New Year. You can party and rock in whatever manner you want but make it sure to yourself that you do all of these things according to what God says and what glorifies God for it is only God who made these things possible to happen.

Day that the Lord has made

Birthday is the time wherein we celebrate the very special day of our lives. It`s the day that God has given us to be enjoy with and be blessed every year. For us, it`s the important date of our lives for we were born by our mother after so many months that she carry that weight in her womb. It`s the magic of love that God made for us to enjoy every blessing that He has given us and making most out of it each and every time of our life.

This month of December, I do believe that some of us celebrate their own birthday and I just want to share something about it. Last 1^st day of December, my mother celebrate her birthday, not here in the Philippines together with us but on the other country out there, at Abu Dhabi, in the land that is so far away. I guess, she enjoyed her birthday even without us in her side. But despite of the happy face that she displayed on the camera when we have our Skype moment, I know that there`s part of her that she feel in pain, knowing that she`s so far away. And the days passed by until the next celebration comes. December 12 is my brother`s birthday. He makes a celebration for himself, giving his friends a blow-out and takes them a break. I realize that my birthday is also approaching but I just enjoy celebrating with my siblings and wait for our father to come home. The day passed by so fast. Every time I woke up, I notice that few days to come, it`s already my birthday. I guess, the reason why there`s something bad that happened to me before my birthday is because of excitement. I celebrate my day with pain but I still think that I`m blessed for God never leave me at that very moment. At first, I feel that there`s nothing special on that day but God surprise me more that I could imagine and I adore God so much for that. And because of that thing, I`m so excited to celebrate the day of our God and Savior who is Jesus Christ Himself. All people in the whole world celebrate this day for it`s a very special day every year. By acknowledging this very moment, I promise something to God and I know that He will help me to accomplish that thing wholeheartedly. I know that it is for His glory. I`m doing that thing not only for a blessing but for I know that it will glorify God alone.

We may feel good or bad, happy or sad when our very special day comes. But we can still feel blessed for God provided everything for us to enjoy the day. Acknowledging Him first is the best way to enjoy every year to come for He is the only source of everything in this world. Just chill and relax and take a deep breath and say “Every birthday is a blessing from God”.
